The park offers 5 outdoor shelters for group and family use. These shelters hold between 25-125 persons and all include grills for cooking. Each shelter has 4-10 picnic tables for use as well. Please call the office to reserve in advance for your group.
We have expanded our camping facilities to offer over 50 campsites for RV camping at the north end of the park. Cost for camping hook-up is $16 tax included per day and that includes water and 30 amp electric service at each site. Call and check in at the office before hooking up; payment is collected at the park office daily.
Tent camping is available for $10 per day. We have playground areas.
We have three meeting rooms available for group use throughout the year. Call the Park Office for rental reservation information.
We have expanded our outdoor amphitheater to play host to bigger, more elaborate shows. The Park will play host to several concerts each summer season and ticket information can be obtained at the park office.
Whispering Pines Golf Course offers nine holes plus a driving range. We offer low fees on our beautifully landscaped course. Call the clubhouse for fees at 812-526-0768.
The Radio Control Flying Field offers those who are interested in remote control flying a place to indulge. The RC Flying Club plays host to several Fly Ins during the summer months.
Nature
If enjoying nature is your interest, the Park has a variety of areas for you. Starting with our 5 miles of hiking, you can observe a wide variety of birds and animals in their natural habitat. Several acres of Wetland provide a great observation area. Wildflowers abound throughout the Park and these areas play host to many different species of birds. Picnicking is welcome throughout the Park. If you enjoy horses, Johnson County Park is the home of the Hoosier Horse Park, which plays host to over 70 horse shows from February to October including high school rodeos in March and October. The Horse Park, host of the 1987 Pan Am Equestrian Events, has an exciting Level 4 cross-country course. The Park Department has also developed a new park in White River Township. “Independence Park” boasts picnic areas, hiking trails and an all-accessible playground. This park is open daily from dawn to dusk. As you can see, Johnson County Park has something for everyone and is located right in your own backyard. So come see us and enjoy what we have to offer.
